A 400 m² research platform at ADNEC where a university put its actual engineering on the floor — an unmanned aircraft, vehicles and prototypes — rather than posters describing it.

Work on a World Future Energy Summit project runs from the first concept through technical drawings, organiser approvals, fabrication, transport, installation and dismantling once the show closes, under one contract and one project manager.

Challenge

The brief

Present a research portfolio spanning aerospace, mobility and energy in a hall of commercial exhibitors, and make an academic institution read with the same authority.

Design response

The concept

A dark architectural envelope let the hardware and the screens carry the colour; a ranked statistics wall stated the university's standing in figures; timber-slat thresholds and white lounges held recruitment and partnership conversations away from the aisle.

Result

The outcome

Prototypes rather than panels held the floor, with quiet rooms behind them for the meetings that follow.
